How to visualize audio

MED-EL runs the interactive exhibition AUDIOVERSUM. They provide unique insights to the topic of hearing.
Together with P&P Media we were introduced to install an eye-catcher at the exhibition'S admissions point.

So how to illustrate audio? How to visualize the attendee's voice? We record the surrounding audio with four sensitive microphones. Those signals are then interpreted into waveforms that are projected on four screens with a total resolution of 7.680 x 1020 px.

Endless possibilities

Besides audio recordings, almost every commercially available sensor can be used as a trigger for these live installations. Besides the usual motion detectors, all microphones, infrared cameras and much more are useful.
