Project Solana Ulcinj

Montenegro Pavilion at 2016 Venice Biennale

The Project Solana Ulcinj, curated by Bart Lootsma and Katharina Weinberger, is the Montenegrin contribution to the 15th International Architecture Exhibition of the Venice Biennale 2016.

The projected part of the exhibited work tries to raise awareness for the particularity of the site Solana Ulcinj.

We were introduced by our friends at LAAC architects to develop the visual concept and to realize an animation. The key concept of the animation was to show a transforming point cloud that shows the transcendence of this landscape structure and facilities.

PMN Coexistence - Solana Ulcinj

This is our contribution to the 15th International Architecture Exhibition of the Venice Biennale at the Montenegrin Pavilion, we did together with LAAC Architects.

The footage of the movie is based on a 3D laser scan of the entire landscape. By descriping the landscape with a point cloud natural and artificial elements appear with the same coding and thus the boundaries between nature and artifice are constantly blurred.

Virtual Window

Back in office we pre-processed the pointclouds and were co-operating with the gorgeous Kathrin Aste on the scene layouts. We did a lot of R+D on the visualization of the raw-data until we found a way to efficiently render out Millions of points.

The final movies built up a room-scale installation in the pavilion of the state of Montenegro during the Biennale 2016.
